I have a large class. How can I use Process Feedback?
Process Feedback supports large classes by letting you load multiple students’ writing-process ZIP files at once into a teacher dashboard. This allows you to review, compare, and discuss students’ writing processes efficiently—without opening the reports one by one.
Step 1. Collect students’ writing-process ZIP files
How you collect ZIP files depends on how you are using Process Feedback in your course. Below are the most common and scalable options.
Option A. Have students submit their ZIP files
Students can download their own writing-process ZIP files from Process Feedback and submit them to you.
This works whether students are using:
- the Process Feedback online editor,
- an LMS integration, or
- Google Docs with the Process Feedback extension.
Common collection methods include:
- Google Form upload
Create a Google Form where students upload their ZIP files. All submissions will be stored in a single Google Drive folder. - LMS assignment upload
Create a dedicated LMS assignment (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.) for ZIP file submission. You can then download all submissions in bulk.
This approach works well if you want students to take responsibility for submitting their own process data.
Option B. Automatically download ZIP files from Google Docs (instructor-driven)
If you are using Process Feedback for Google Docs, you can download ZIP files yourself while reviewing student documents.
- Open the Process Feedback extension in Google Docs.
- Enable the advanced setting “Instantly download process data.”
- When this option is enabled, a ZIP file is automatically downloaded to your device each time you open a student’s Google Doc.
This option is efficient for large classes when instructors prefer not to manage student uploads.
Step 2. Load ZIP files into the teacher dashboard
Once you have collected the ZIP files, load them into the Process Feedback dashboard:
-
For Google Docs ZIP files:
Visit https://app.processfeedback.org/gdocs -
For ZIP files from all other sources (online editor, LMS, etc.):
Visit https://app.processfeedback.org/exploreprocess
You can load multiple ZIP files at once to view students’ writing processes in a dashboard table.
Notes
- We use the word “load” instead of “upload” because ZIP files are processed locally in your browser and are not sent to Process Feedback servers.
- The multi-student dashboard is an actively evolving feature.
